Aloha! My name is Mrs. Janice Acopan. I was born and raised here on this beautiful Island of Maui. I live with my husband Mr. Alfred Acopan, Jr. and a daughter, Shaye, who is a Senior at Maui High School where I also graduated from.
I attended and graduated from Maui Community College and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
I taught at Princess Nahi'ena'ena Elementary School in Lahaina, Lihikai School and now here at Pomaika'i School since it opened its doors in 2007. I can honestly say that I have been in the school system almost 20 years. Wow!
I am a great dog lover and enjoy spending most of my time with my family. Some of my favorite things are: to watch great movies, listen to Hawaiian and Pop music, enjoy the outdoors, eat good food, indulge on chocolate and dance hula. Although I only have one child, I am involved in everything that she is involved with (school, after school activities, meetings, hula, etc...) Our family beliefs are love, support, responsibility, honesty, commitment and communication. Therefore as an educator I also follow those same core values and teach them in our classroom.
I am very excited to work with your child this school year! Together we will have a wonderful time of exploring, wondering, learning, reflecting and celebrating in our Integrated Arts Curriculum in Second Grade. Congratulations for your love of learning and your child and lets dive right in and Imua! (Go!)
